Story Telling Time : "riding injuries"

I thought that maybe Id stop to tell you guys about my latest injury. I was racing 3 weeks ago in Anadarko, OK at a track. Anyway, it was a 1.5 hour buddy endurance race, and it was the last lap. I remember going though the starting gates, and thats it. Next thing I know Im in the back of a truck going to the hospital. Ends up , after surgury and all, I now have 5 inches of stainless steel and 10 screws holding my right leg together. I broke the tibia and fibia, near and into the ankle, and tibia near my knee. Let me tell ya broken legs really suck. And as far as broken bones go, this a pretty severe break. A spiral break, hair line fractures, the whole nine yards. Nowbody saw the accident either, all I know is that it was in a whoop section, a rather long one that that. Another 5 weeks untill.I can bear any weight on the ol' leg, I cant wait, because crutches really suck.
Tell us about some of your old war injuries.

I've had minor injuries over the years such as broken fingers and toes and a couple broken ribs. I have been in 3 really bad wrecks though. In my first one I was wide open through a field, the grass was about six inches high and all off a sudden i hit a really big woodchuck hole with my right front tire, well i proceeded to fly about ten feet through the air and i landed on my stomach, now for the painful part, the quad came down and landed on its side directly on my lower back, i was able to get up and i rode back to my house with my friends, a few hours later i was not able to move my left leg and i had to be taken to the hospital, it turns out that i had bled so much in my back that my spine had been pushed out of alignment and was rubbing on my spinal cord, the hospital kept my back iced and gave me anit-inflammatory iv's and after a couple days i was able to move my legs again. In my second wreck i was climbing a hill and the quadrolled over and i rolled down the hill and the quad came down right after me and landed on my shin, it chipped my shin bone and ruptured my calf muscle, now i have to wear a compression brace on it. My third wreck was this past summer, i was climbing another hill and the quad rolled over backwards and i got tangled up in it, some how my pant leg got wrapped up in the foot peg when it went over and i got dragged all the way down the hill behind the quad as it was rolling over and over. I had wound up tearing my quadriceps tendon, this was def the most painfull injury that i've had yet, i was out of work for 2 months and it still bothers me when i go to the gym and work out my legs.

I thought I had it bad. Last winter I didn't see a tile ditch in the middle of a corn field. It just blended right in. I cased out on the other side of the 20 foot ditch at 60mph I remember pinning the throttle right when I saw it because it was already too late. The sled had enough momentum to jump out. Tell ya guys what next thing I knew I was flying through the air and then I blacked out when I hit the ground. I woke up and I couldn't breathe and I couldn't move. I thought I was dead because my face was burried in the snow and all I could see was white. Now that was scary. I landed on my left side and bruised my femur and pelvis. I now have arthritis in my left hip and right knee and I bruised up my shoulder and ribs really bad. I'm only 16 guys this is not good. My other friend that was on the sled with me sprained both of his ankles. They were all black and swollen he couldnt walk on them for 4 days.
That and I flipped my X last spring while pitching it sideways in 4th gear WFO back tire caught a rock and I was flying through the air like superman. This was 5 weeks after the snowmobile accident. My mom thought I had a death wish. Live and learn I guess.

Well, I guess my "horror story" happened last year. Some friends and I were racing Badlands MX's Full Moon Series, 1st round. Tough competition. 1st moto I placed pretty badly; 5th place. 2nd moto, 3rd lap I think, I went off a tabletop type jump, and the Banshee decided to endo! I landed front bumper 1st, and about that time I decided to jump for dear life. When I landed(face first), the Banshee hit me right in the butt, then ran over me. So there I was, laying in the middle of the track, with a flagger 5ft away, scratchin his ****. Not so bad? Well, about that time a 400EX landed on top of me! From there, LifeTech came out, put me on the Mule, and gave me a free ride back to the pits. Turned out I had a pretty good concussion, and a handful of body aches.
What really sucks is, a medical test or whatever has shown that after getting a concussion, a rider really doesn't want to ride anymore. I have been to two races since. That was last October.

They day before christmas I wrecked my 300ex.
I was ridingway back behind my house. The guy that owns the land owns a construction comapany. So he has all kinda of trackhoe's,bull dozers, highlifts etc etc.Well any for some reason he dug a giant ditch next to a road.Well he made like a big table top only the other side was in the woods. So I was just jumping up on top of it.I was hitting it in 3rd gear. There was one part with a good sized lip on it.Right on the other side there was a big rut so U had to go fast enough to clear the rut.I hit it a bunch of times in 3rd gear and was having a blast. Then I hit it one time 5th gear almost WOT.I ended up only hittin half of the lip and the 300 did about 10 barrel rolls and then lands on me.I ended up getting a trip to the ER and 2 severly sprained wrist.(which the hot nurse said can hurt worse than breaks and I believe it)The 300ex got a bent tie-rodand that was it.
That was the most pain I have ever been in.And I rode my bike off a 10 foot cliff and landed on my head. That hurt pretty good to!
