Bought mine in February of 99. Paid $7200 even + tax. Last I seen they were asking $7499 + tax. Funny eh!! you'd think the price would have gone down, not up. Must be why dealers around here are only selling 2 maybe 3 a year, or It could be that the 400 ex just aint a big seller around here. Eveybody wants 4x4, oh well I got both.

Thanks Weedman, Will have to see if i can find a dealer near the BC border to Wa.and see what I can talk him down to. At that price I save about $900 U.S. with the state taxes, I think im gonna have to pay taxes in both countries so I am not sure what the actual savings would be. Thanks again.

You shouldn't have to pay taxes in both countries. You might have to pay taxes to the dealer, but you will be reimbursed at the border, and then you will pay import duties to the US gov.

At least that's my understanding of how it works.

I think around here 400EX's are going for 7000 + tax.

2001 MSRP was $8199, 2002 up to $8299

I paid $7600 + 7% tax in Alberta, I dont think you'll find them too much cheaper than that until late summer, and there hasn't been any new 01s around here since last spring.

I am not sure how it works, I am just starting to get into this idea of buying it up there. I know it will save me a bunch of money. Now I just have to figure out all the details and where the closest dealer is to the border. In Vancover I am sure, and contact them and custums to figure it all out.
Sales tax in our state is 8.7%, and the msrp here is $5699. Add setup and freight and your at $6000 add tax and you're over 6500 US.
If I buy in Canada, at 7500 the current exchange rate is around .65. It is only $4875 plus duties and Wa. state sales tax. I should be able to save between $500 and $900 that is worth the trip.

Those are really good prices. I found the Canadian Honda web site and the MSRP on there site is 8199. That price is alot closer to what they want down here. The dealers here wont come down more than a hundred dollars here.
Why the big difference between msrp and what they actually sell for?

The Canadian MSRP for the LT-Z400 is $8399... something to consider...
