SIERRA CLUB TRYING TO CLOSE PISMO DUNES FOREVER
#1
Fellow ATVers:
I just found this out today... the Sierra Club filed a lawsuit against the California State Parks on 11/30/01. In short, they want the dunes closed to OHV's until the park can prove they are in full compliance with environmental mandates (ESA). Their real goal is to close the park forever to OHV's.
I don't know about you... but I'm quite sick and tired of the Sierra club telling us off-roaders what to do. Pismo Dunes are perhaps the best in the country... it's time we get together and put an end to this nonsense.
Spread the work... and check out the following site and find out how you can help:

Does this surprise anyone? They can't pass their ideology off onto the general public so they have to resort to litigation through some Clinton era loophole that the current administration needs to address. This is crap, the leftists are going to take away all of our public land until we all end up riding motocross, but then they'll sue to get some stinkbug on the threatened list and kick us off the private property as well. They can keep farmers from touching their fields, why not keep recreationalists from doing the same thing? It's only a matter of time. If you're thinking of blowing thousands of dollars on your toys, think about what's going to happen in the next five years if the GOP doesn't clean up in the midterm elections?
What can we do? Vote GOP. Get these feel-good liberals out of office and return the public land to the public. If you didn't vote, don't complain because you did it to yourself.

We have a big problem with them in Iowa. To me it's communism at it's finest. I really glad that some one is out there protecting me from me. Why don't those overbearing zeliots realize that we generally are naturalist too. Not the nudist colony type but actual nature lovers. Well some of you may be nudists and thats ok so I dont want a bunch of pissed off e mails. I would love to see some one from the sierra club start a thread on here, I'm sure the responce would be staggering.

I really love camping and backpacking and when I was younger I spent alot of time in the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. In fact I just spent this past weekend sleeping under the stars in the hills of Indiana during rain & snow flurries.
Someone bought me a book on backpacking once which was put out by the Sierra Club. In the book it stated that the Sierra Club believes in camping without leaving a trace. It honestly said in the book that a good backpacker will stop and return a rock to its original resting place if it's accidentally kicked and moved while hiking.
It also said if you take a dump in the woods you need to put the used toilet paper in a baggy and pack it back out with you. Say what!
I used to think I wanted to join the Sierra Club because of my love of the outdoors but after reading that book I realized they were freaking over the top when it comes to nature preservation. I believe in preserving natural resources but denying total access to the public is ridiculous.
