What are the best 22(rear) and 23(front) tires available for woods and trail riding on a 400EX? I was leaning towards the Holeshots XTC. Where is the best place to get them? Do you have to change the gearing? Thanks

The xct's are pretty good, but they're heavy. If your going to be in the mud at all I'd go with the Fast trekker rears 22", they're awesome. I'd think hard about going up to 22" tire though. It will be heavier, won't spin on corners as well, and have more roll when u turn. If u need the ground clearence then go for it, if not, stick with 20's. If u get 22's and do any gearing go down 2 teeth in rear. Good luck.. If u want to see what 400ex looks like with razr's then check out my website. http://members.home.net/umcpmark/index.htm

Good luck.

i just ordered the 20x11x9 Holeshot XC mounted on Douglas .190 wheels and the 22x7x10 Holeshot XC tires today. I order them out of rockymountainatv. They have many Tires and packages to choose from and they were the cheepest i could find them anywhere. I was goin to order the Maxis Razors but they were out and wopuldnt be gettin any for about a month.

Holeshot 22 rears have less side roll then most 20 tires. They are 6 ply which means hard racing in the woods without puncture problems. Heavier? Yes but unless your racing full time these will provide best all around performance in and out of the mud. But do change the gearing. After all whats all the hype about doing 70mph but having no bottom end?

The way I went was the new holeshot XCT on the front with a Douglas .190 and Holeshot XC on the back with .190. I really like it. I think the XCT is better up front than the XC. but the BAck XCT is to tall.

I've had the shredders, holeshots, holeshot xct's, and I've got the Razr's on now. In my opinion they are all very similar. I like the shredders the best so far because they have a little harder compound, which means they are lasting a little longer. My xct's were pretty good, but i really didn't like having 22's. None of these tires are really good in the mud, cause they tend to clump up. The Bandit rears are great in the mud but they don't hook up that well on hardpack. For mud I like the 22" Fast Trekker rears, or the bandits. As for fronts I'd either go with Bandits, xct's or holeshots. Hope this helped.
