Honda VS. Cannondale
#21
Today I was riding and seen a cannondale. It was the speed and had a hmf pipe. That thing was fast. It killed my 400ex with a sparks racing pipe, k n airfilter, sparks racing cam, 10.5 je piston, 39mm fcr carb. If you have the money they are well worth the price.

Hey man, how did that HMF pipe sound? I'm thinkin about buyin one after I get new tires and I was just wondering what they sound like... Not that it really matters (I ride the tracks all the time) but I'm just curious.

Not meaning to sound like a smarta@@ here, but exactly what price gap are you guys talking about? The difference between the Cannibal and 400EX is only $1300.00
You can not buy enough parts for the 400EX for 1300.00 to even come close. Power or suspension.
I'm not saying that the 400EX is a bad machine. It's one of my favorite ALL-AROUND quads. But if I were to plan on running a full moto-cross program and was on a limited budget, the Cannibal is by far a more logical choice. And if that's not enough power for you, it only takes your Cannondale dealer about 30 minutes to give it the Moto's extra 9 Horsepower. And the dealer probally wont charge you a thing to do it either. We don't anyway.

Knowsalot- 9 hp is in the mapping? And i thought the raptor was choked up! I like the sound of free hp.
Yodaddy- I make some laps on mx tracks. My biggest problem is, most of the time i make a 1 1/2 out of a double, roll the whoops, 2 wheel thru the corners (dam raptor) bypass the triples. But i run strong down the straights. I do make it a point, not to come in last. I am more of the spectator type. I am almost old enough to run the senior division. lol

Well actually the difference between the Moto and Cannibal is more than nine horsepower, but you can get nine out of the mapping. [Cannondales own dynos on the two machines]
The Moto's exhaust is supposed to be for more additional power, but we don't mess with the Motos, so I am not sure exactly what differences there are in the pipes. Haven't seen one except in the brochures. Supposedly, some later Cannibals have this exhaust, but I haven't seen it on any yet and I haven't called to confirm this either.
What I am really waiting on is parts information regarding the Moto's cam. We don't have a dyno in the shop to back up the numbers, but if the mapping changes are getting 9 extra horses out of that engine, it is exactly that: Free horsepower
Has anyone ever read the warning decal on the Cannibal's fuel tank? I had a guy set to ride a demo today until he read that sticker. Talk about sticker shock!! LOL.....I guess he really didn't want a fast machine afterall.

i said the 440 speed i could build up a used 400ex pretty much anyway i wanted it but most likely id trash that idea and send a 350x engine to sparks for 4 stroke tech and order a lonestar chassie while my 65 to 70hp cdale crusher was being built

Build a 350X into a Cannondale "crusher?" UUmm Ok..
Although I am considering a Cannibal, I am with Dill, I want to see how the frame holds up after 3-4 years. I dont really ride tracks much anymore, mainly dunes, so I dont think its that big of issue, but Im waiting for now...

If you have questions regarding the strength of the C'dales aluminum frames, just take a tour of their manufacturing facility in Indiana. Watch the frames that are being stressed 24 hours a day, you'll be impressed to say the least.

I have chatted with several people who have taken that tour, and when they get done, they all have said a Cannondale will be their next quad.
Cannondale is playing for keeps in this market, and you can bet they'll get something out especailly for... well.. Who haven't they made something for? Motocrossers have the Moto, well, any of them really. Cross Country guys have the Blaze, which can be used for MotoX, trail riding. The regular old trail riders and duners can pick between the Cannibal, and Speed(or any other quad they make).
