Killer250R, first off the the Rubicon & Rincon Trannsmissions are new to atving, but not really new at all, those designs are atleast 10 years old, and I would'nt trust the Rincon that much with Aluminum A-arms, do you know what kind of mess that could turn into, Even Cannondale knew to keep the A-arms Chromoly instead of Aluminum.

thunderpower.... you must also be 12 years old.
You two would probably make good riding buddies!
Are you sure you can even handle a 400ex?

Where are your parents at Mr. foul mouth!

Did I miss something there Ohio???

I don't really see why Honda would be interested in making alarge bore quad at this point. All attention now is on the Pro-Production class in the GNCC series, and so far, the 400EX has been cleaning house.

Yamaha and Bombardier are the ones who missed the boat by building their "dune" runner quads.

You all you guys keep saying that Honda is behind, when in reality they are way ahead of the game when it comes to the production classes, and right now, that's where the racing action is. Not a drunk infested weekend at Glamis!!!!!

Honda doesn't need a 70+mph big bore quad.......Yamaha and Bombardier need a 400cc-440cc quad.

You guys have it backwards.

I wasn't preaching lonestar. Sorry if it sounded like it.

Just trying to make a point that the industry is getting involved in racing again. [In the GNCC series anyway]. Honda may not ever field a factory team again, but you can bet it will do what it takes to keep a top level machine in that class. And right now, the 400EX is that machine.

Just because there is no "race" class for it, doesn't mean it shouldn't be built. Is there a race class for 95% of the machines being currently built? Nope. Are there tons of machines at "drunk infested Glamis", yes there certainly are. Would Honda sell every 650EX they built? Definately. If you ever go to Glamis, you would realize that the loser drunks are mostly riding nothing, while the people out there having fun are not causing trouble. Most of the time I agree w/you, but you are way wrong on this.

ridzhard,..I see your counterpoint to my statement, and I understand it.
But please don't think that I was referring to everyone that rides at Glamis at being drunks. I know there are plenty of guys that go out there and drink nothing.

Of course Honda would sell every unit if they were to make a Raptor eater, but they would also sell every 250R if it were to be built. And that's just not going to happen.

My Honda sales rep. is kind of an older guy and used to be head of one of Honda's R&D divisions up till about 4 years ago. He tells me stories all the time of the wild machines that Honda has built in the 90's but were never given consideration for production. He told me once that Honda was seriously thinking of re-releasing the 250R in '93 along with the 300EX, but the plan got the axe at the last moment. That's why you heard so many rumors about it from the magazines back then. He says that Honda has been working on an EX using the XR650 engine for the last two years and if Honda was to release a Raptor opponet, that woulkd be the machine because of all the "production ready" parts that were specially made for it.

Again, I was only implying that Honda doesn't have to focus on another machine because it doesn't have to. I never said that it wouldn't happen, because it will at some point.
