HELP...to put on or not to put on new wb-e series pipe...?
#1
my friend just picked up his new 2002 400ex yesterday and hasnt ridden it except for about 5 minutes up and down the street when he brought it home...the question is that he is going to get a white bros. e series pipe (shipped out today) so it should be at his house no later then monday....so....should he go ahed and put the pipe on as soon as it gets here or should he wear in the motor a little bit, and if he should wear it in..how many hours should he put on it....thanks

well the reason i said that was because my buddy has been getting a new 400 every year since they came out and he gets header/silencer, racing cam, and a few other things done to the motor before he even rides it because he races them. (he is a self sponsered factory rider)hah)

I just finished breaking in my '02 400ex. I decided to wait until it was broken in before putting the pipe on. I mean...during the break in period, you don't even get to rev the bike out all the way. There's no sense putting that pipe on until you can use it to it's fullest potential. While you've got the bike apart (adjusting valves, changing oil, etc....) and you've got your tools out, just slap the pipe on then. Putting a pipe on is a quick job. It's the jetting that takes time. I just think that the break-in period is very important on a new bike. I didn't even put the paddle tires on, because they put a heavier load on the engine. Take care of your new bike, and it won't let you down. That's what I think.

yeah..ive ALWAYS taken care of my quads....never been in the sun...(when not riding)...and i dont beat them to death like some of the people that do cause i respect the fact that i had to pay for mine (im 15)and i know what responsibility is, but this is my friends first quad, he pretty much grew up on my old mojave and he is a good learner, scratch that...excellent learner...he learned how to use a clutch in no time at all and respects the fact that if he doesnt watch what hes doing he'll end up killing himself on a quad, but he is too big for the mojave...i think hes like 6 foot and 165-175lbs at 16 years old, and he loves riding my 400ex and he wants to start adding power to his 400 already , i dont agree with him on that but...its his quad and his life, so ill help him out on whatever he wants to do..thanks for the input chad400ex
