Both my EX and my ZILLA (WIDE) fit in my 91' Toyota 4X4.
The Zilla is pushin' it though, both in length and width.

 

I've got an '01 Ranger with the regular bed, and my '02 400ex just squeezes in between the wheel wells. I've got a spray in liner, So I took a mallet to the wheelwells like jcv400ex said. I would think that the bed rails on your truck (stepside) are probably the same width as the wheelwells on mine (maybe narrower). I think that the 400ex is too wide. Time to buy a trailer.

 

i would just get your tape measure out. or try craming the bike in.

 

My buddy has a '96 sonoma short bed and when he put his 400ex in there, it dented up his wheel-wells real bad. Probably cause he just tryed pushing it in instead of lifting it up. I doubt it ill fit in a step-side pickup, they are just to narrow.

 

If you got a regular bedliner youll have to pick the frontend up over the wheel wells. I got tired of cramming mine in my ranger so i bought a f150

 

My Friend has a '00 S10 stepside and his Mojave is a very very tight fit. The 400ex being quite a bit wider, no way it will fit. Granted this is an S10 not a Ranger, but I imagine the demensions are very close.
