Hondaguy300- I am not sure on the speed quite yet. Just finished breaking in the 686. My trailtech was fluctuating in the mid 80's the other day with stock gearing. I think 100 mph is not out of the question with proper gearing. The raptor is a hand full after 80 though. I am going to try a 14 tooth this week. I should be in the mid 60 hp range. I will be adding nos SOON. I have no illusion of being the fastest, but i will stay ahead of 97 percent of the quads out there.

It all depends on what kind of riding you do. The Raptor is faster (stock for Stock) but the 400Ex handles better. My choice obviously would be the 400EX. Guardog has a Raptor and he beats me on Drag Races. Only when we hit 4th and 5th though. Maybe 5 mph faster. It's up to you. Honda has less maintenance problems but both are good machines.

Badfordman how big are you and what kind of riding will you be involved in. The raptor is better in the dunes, drags and open riding. The 400EX is better in woods and trail riding. The raptor stock i believe goes 70 as the 400 goes 65. the 400EX may be a little more reliable. I would go for the Raptor.

badfordman, you should go get a 400ex and the money you saved from that hop it up.Once I raced a raptor on the road and beat it and my 400ex is bored over to a 440ex.

Hey oddball who did your engine mods for you? I'm thinking about going with Duncan. So far everything that I have is from them and I am not disapointed.

The raptor is fast but....thats all it is. I'm not trying to knock it in anyway but it's the truth. The 400EX isn't quite as fast as the raptor but go figure you got a 260cc difference between the two. If you race dunes and drag alot go with the raptor. You want to trailride racettrak go with the 400EX. I'm almost positive that you can get 100 on a 400EX modded to the max. But,what I dont get is WHERE are you going to go where you'll have the time to get 100 and also the time to stop? Just my 2 cents.

BADFORDMAN HERE,
I weigh 170 lbs, and I'm 36 years old. (I feel like I'm 86, due to a atv crash, act like I'm 18)
The riding I would be doing Is mostly goofing off(wheelies, powerslides, small jumps) and trail, and ditch riding. However, in the winter I will be riding on the frozen lake(the snow sucks up a lot of power).
I havent riden either atv.
I just dont know if the 400ex will have enough power?

RIDE-ON!!!!
