Honda or Yamaha

heh, even when it comes to quads I never could bring myself to consider the rubi, if their[hondas] new rincon isn't the best thing since sliced bread when reviews start trickling in I'm getting a grizz in less than a heartbeat.

No one can ride a 250cc dirtbike to it's full potential, including RC or MC, so performance isn't a factor.
The CR has better brakes for sure, and most people like it's suspension better.
The YZ has a slightly stronger engine and better ergonomics[according to most]
The CR has been a more reliable engine. The YZ has had transmission problems since it's last engine design in '97
Sales wise, Honda has sold more offroad motorcycles than Yamaha when including the CR/XR and YZ/TTR lines, but between just the CR and YZ, The YZ way outsells the CR's.
It's just a matter of preference with the rider.
Me, personally, I like the fit and feel of the Honda's. They have more than enough power for my level of dirtbike skill, which isn't much, but I like the Yamaha YZ250F better than any dirt bike period....for me.

That depends. I have seen maybe a dozen in the last two or three years. Some were abused and other's weren't. It would be a tough call. I haven't seen any failures on the '01 or '02 models...yet anyway.
