I was just wondering what the top speed of a stock 300ex?? And does anyone have a guess about how fast one would go with a fmf megamax 2 pipe and k&n air filter and 125 jet with premium gas?? thanks for any replies!

 

Ya got nothing to gain by using a higher octane gas. In fact the end result is usually the opposit of what you are after. Using it can also lead to early engine failure. Use the stuff that it calls for in the manual, your engine will love you for it.

The speed numbers really don't mean all that much anyway. But the 300EX will run anywhere from 55 to the low 60's.

Oh don't forget to open up that air box along with the rejeting. But you should do the jetting as it needs to be done! Test run it and play with some different jets. I use the 125, but I also live at 5,300' elevation and ride into higher elevations!

 

Uh TomCat, using high octane gas hurts nothing. In fact, it is actually a little better on the motor than running lower octane gas. It won't hurt anything and will give it slightly better gas mileage. I have run 93 octane in my ex ever since i got a megamax 2. I ended up w/ a 135 main jet after the cam and piston too.

I recommend the megamax2. It gave me a lot more low end pull and even added top end. Run it with no quiet core and all discs for best performance. You can pull wheelies and use higher gears a lot easier. But the real power gains came from the piston and cam.

My 300ex will run about 60 or so. I am not after top end speed though. It pulls a lot harder through the gears with all 3 mods together. The piston and gaskets cost about 110 i think. The cam was about 90 with core exchange. To me the megamax II is not too loud, to other it may be. Run it w/ the quiet core and it's not loud at all to me.

My friend has a 94 300ex with a DG header pipe and silencer, chrome lite nerf bars, 125 jet, and he runs VP race gas in it, he is wanting to sell it and i am thinking about buying it or a new one,,,he might sell it to me for 3000 bucks or less, it is like brand new, all of the aftermarket parts have been put on it within 3 months, should i buy my friends or get a new one??
