I've already got the cylinder/head/left and right case covers off. Does anyone have any experience with an electric impact wrench? How much $$$$ are they? I don't feel like buying one, I'm only 15 and have to pay for all of my quad/tool needs myself without an actual job so if there is another way, let me know.

You can rent an air compressor for a day at your local rental store, probably can also rent the impact wrench too. If you don't want to do that, hell just take your motor do a local tire shop or car shop and ask if you could borrow their impact wrench to remove a couple bolts!! Take a good look at your clutch basket, do you see grooving on the "tangs", the fingers, if so, buy a new one. Best one for the money is the PE clutch basket, just as good as the Hinson for alot less money. Johnny is not the cheapest in regards to a new crank. Check out planet honda, they had new ones for $220.

You DON'T want to use anything to pry the cases apart!

I take an old front sprocket and install it and grab it with a channel locks. This way you can keep the clutch from spinning when using the impact wrench!

Retro, I used your front sprocket/channel locks idea and my clutch still spins. Now what did I break?

At least you know your tranny is working. Hehe. Steve, if you get in a bind, hollar at me. I can help you out. My rebuild is still fresh on my mind.

I've been having nightmares lately though. Last night i dreamt that I busted the case again..

Well, I found someone with an impact wrench and compressor today so I should be finished tearing it aparts before this weekend. Hopefully I'll have all the money together next week for new crank, bearings and seals and chain/sprockets, since mine are toast. A little bit of advice, if you have a anger control problem, stay away from anything that can cut metal for awhile, lol. I still want to know why my clutch wouldnt work when I tried pushing it around the shop in gear, everything looks to be in good shape. While this topic is still being viewed, anyone know what a set of Sand Skate 2 tires are worth mounted on aluminum rims? 2 rides with them, still have the little nipple things on them. Man, repairs suck sometimes

I would go with the sand shark's, they are a clone of the sand skate's. We have a couple pairs of these and they have done really well. You can get a set of these on rims from www.rockymountainatv.com for $145. The same size sand skate II's from rocky mountain cost $197 with rims. What rim size do the sand skate II's have, makes some difference in what they are worth.

You're point about not being in a bad mood with a dangerous tool was funny!!! Point well taken!!
