which is faster: a banshee with toomey T5 pipes and silencers, K&N filter, and 34 mm keihnin carbs or a 400 ex, performance cam, rev kit, CT racing silncer, k&N, etc. basically would a heavily modded 400 without bore kit beat that banshee.

It may come down to who the better driver/rider is.

Im going to have to say that the Shee will pull away once you get going I'm not just sayin that because Im a shee owner But know from experience The reason IS the banshee has great top end and not the greatest low end. On the other hand the 400EX has great low and decent mid range power but when the shee hits the powerband it moves. Just my 2 cents

Motoxer, in the Yamaha forum you posted about what quad to buy. A Banshee, or Raptor. So, you already OWN a banshee? You also stated that you were looking for a good price on a 02' Banshee. So you DONT own one, then. Also, your "pretty sure" your going to buy the Banshee, in the OTHER post in the yamaha forum.

"I'm not just sayin that because Im a shee owner But know from experience" ?????????????????????????

Explain, please..........

i have ridden a banshee with t-5, porting, milled head, vforce reeds, prodesign airbox, k@n's, and holeshots. i have also ridden a 440ex with xr cam, revbox, t4 pipe, and k@n. there is no comparison the banshee absolutely kills it in a drag race. everybody says that the 400ex has better bottom end, but when you just rev the banshe a little then slip the clutch out it takes off much faster than a 400ex.

My duning experiences have shown me that it takes a 440 kit, a healthy (not an XR) cam, a carb, and a good pipe to run with a piped Banshee.

I agree, it would take a well built-up 400ex to keep up with or beat a tricked-out banshee.

However, (this may not be relavant) but I have a FMF Powercore IV S/A slip-on pipe and a K and N Powerkit on my 400ex and I have beaten stock banshees. I have drag raced them at Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Michigan last summer. I know it may be hard to believe but its true. I always thought that a stock Banshee could whoop a 400ex any day. But in my case that didn't happen. I'm not trying to say that I kill stock Banshees drag racing, I am just saying that it is possible for a slightly modded 400ex can beat a stock Banshee.

Motoxer, I agree that a Banshee has awesome top-end and not the greatest low-end where as the 400ex is the total opposite. The 400ex has awesome low to mid-end, but looses a little top-end wise. I think that is probably why I can beat stock Banshees. Because Banshees like to spin a lot whereas the 400ex grabs all the low-end torgue and is able to pull. I was able to get out off of the line when the guys riding the stock Banshees where trying to grab traction because a Banshee is so "high-strung" being a 2-stroke.

As for a Banshee with Toomey T5 pipes and silencers, K&N filter, and 34mm carbs; is the Banshee able to beat a heavily modded 400ex with a performance cam, rev kit, CT racing silencer, and a K&N filter? In my opinion, drag racing the Banshee would win all day long. However I think the 400ex would take the Banshee on an MX track.

It would take a VERY HEAVILY modified 400ex to beat even a SLIGHTLY MODIFIED Banshee.

A full modified 440ex is close competition for just a piped Banshee.

You didn't say where the bikes would be ridden???? In the dunes or running straight down a fire road, the Shee is going to be faster. But, in a situation like trail riding where manuverability is important, the Shees lack of low end, mediocre suspension, and slugish handling, will give the 400 the edge.

I know how 400ex's handle better but it is hard to justify how a 440ex which is lucky to have 50hp can out run a typical ported, piped and geared banshee which will push atleast 75hp. All the bottom end in the world means little in a drag race.
