I have read some posts about people using a larger headpipe (Powroll ?) and using the stock silencer.
Is there a performance difference in using the stock silencer vs a aftermarket one ?? What are some pros and cons on this type of mod.
Isn't the I.D. on the silencer going to affect the flow rate into the silencer, won't this bogg the exhaust flow down ?? You say a larger I.D. headpipe will increase flow, makes sense, but then you say you can use a stock silencer ?? hmm. but the stock silencer has the stock size I.D. entering the silencer. Won't this bog the exhaust flow ???? To me this sounds like a bottleneck or funnel affect. Trying to squeeze an increase of exhaust thru a stock exit hole. Doesn't seem like it will work correctlly.. please some info. here!!
I ride a 95 300ex, all stock for now !!!

I just called a local shop with the same question that you have. They said that the larger headpipe will give you more bottom but it won't help much because the stock muffler will restrict the flow. If you can't afford both the guy said to get a new muffler then the headpipe if you want it.
