I am just curious if anyone else has been riding much with the polaris 500 Ho? I drove one for a while today and seen what they can do and the polaris owners drove my rubicon and were very impressed.
This is not bash but in our terrain around here they do not seem to be as good as every one says they are and in the real world all the specs and features do not always mean everything.

I ride alot with alot of Polaris riders, several 500 HO's. They are all very happy with them except for the guy who wont take care of the
maintenance and he constantly has problems with his, go figure.

I dont know if the 500's are made like every other one ive seen cause noone around here owns one, but i look at it this way about polairs, "Belts are for lawnmowers" if polaris would make a standard shift chain or shaft drive quad they would be aight, but everyone i have seen has a belt. Just my opinion

the Magnum models are five speed manual (autoclutch) shift. Rumor has it they are developing a five speed, light weight(i'll beleive that when i see it), sport quad. Not sposed to be a reworked Scram but all new.

cartman308,

The magnum models are belt drive............the xpedition models are gearbox driven like a Honda. As far as belts being for lawn mowers, that's pretty weak. I know of more than 1 Polaris owner who has gotten over 5,000 miles on a belt, so what's the problem with them? I'm not here to bash either, but Honda really needs to address thier suspension, drum brakes, and limited slip.

"BELTS ARE FOR LAWNMOWERS"??? YOU NEED TO UPDATE YOUR KNOWLEDGE THEN!!! cause if what you said is true, then Kawasaki and yamaha also are belt driven(Grizz 600 and 660, kawi praire 650) so belts cant be that bad if everyone is starting to use them....... think about what you say next time.....instead of eating your own foot

oh, one other thing... you really dont know much about polaris, do you... you said something about how they should make shaft or chain drive... THEY DO!!! The older sportsmans are chain driven, the newer sportsmans are shaft driven, and all the scramblers are chain driven(yes, even the 4x4 scramblers are chain driven, front and rear!!!) (now is when you insert foot into mouth)

I dont know a thing about polaris cause everybody around here rides honda, but there is one guy a mile down the road from me that has a polaris, aint for sure aht model but he has had nuttin but trouble outa it, he has bad luck with the starter, the carburetor is messed up on it right now and he has trouble with the belt on his quad slippin, but that is the only polaris i have ever been around so i have no idea what another one would be like.

Walexa, I'm with you, Honda does need to improve their front diff. A friend has a Honda and although I do like their reliability and some other features, but Frankly he can't keep up in the goo if one front looses traction.
