Melting Plastic on 300EX

Do you have the heat tile on there? If not, you can get a heat tile that sticks onto the plastic, and doesn't let it melt.

my 96 300ex with a supertrapp has been melting the plasic around the headpipe, but i think it melted so much it cant melt anymore. also i have no heat shield so i burn my leg[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

i had the same problem when i put my full WB exhaust on. i just cut the plastic. the little piece that touches it was small enough to cut off. it is hardly noticable. it was a good fix for me.

I saw a 250X melt the plastic right there around where the kickstart goes, I dunno what it is about that style plastic but i aint seen no 400's or 250's do it.

I had the same problem. What I did was take a small piece of 1/4 inch pipe about an inch long and JB Welded it to the metal bracket that the plastic rests on. Mine was melting on a small spot just behind your leg on the right side when sitting on quad. By doing this it caused the plastic to rest on the small piece of pipe and therefore was no longer able to get close enough to touch the pipe. You can't see it either unless you actually bend down and look under the plastic, or take off the seat.

Worked for me.
