they better not comeout with a 650ex. Just what we need anthor 400lb sport quad. HOnda should put the crf450 in a quad. The engine only out weighs a 250r engine by 6lbs. So they could keep the weight under 350lbs. It will be detuned becouse the crf450 dirtbike is detuned. It could happen becouse dirtwheels has said a couple times honda is pushing to have the pro cc limit up to 450.

I agree with BigDave about a lightweight racing quad instead of a drag race pig. I'm just curious as to what the heck you're talking about when you claim the CRF450 motor is detuned in the dirtbike. I suppose my YZ426 is detuned also, even though it puts out 10 more HP at the back tires than a stock 660 from the same mfg. I did'nt realize Honda would reccomend new rings every 10 hours in a "detuned" motor. Whoever told you a CRF450 is detuned is full of crap. Can it make more power? Yes Is it detuned? I don't think so.

Honda would never put a CRF 450 motor in a quad. I've said it a million times and I'll say it again. The 450 takes a lot of maintanance and reliability is the only thing that Honda is hanging on to. Unfortunately there are a bunch of maintanance idiots out there that don't even know how to lube their chain, so you would end up having a bunch of people w/ the 450 quad that didn't maintain it and then they start breaking down. Well heavan forbid that someone points the finger to themselves... Those people will blame Honda, and after a while, Honda's reliability reputation will be destroyed.

Hmmm... sounds like something already happened exactly like that w/ a certain person in the C-dale forum. Good thing we all know he's an idiot.

yeah... kiss the CRF450R idea goodbye... not going to happen...

KNOWSALOT, what is this thing with Yamaha that you were talking about? Did you make a prediction that you don't think will hold true now? If so, what is it?

Honda may make the quad based on the 450 with a shorter stroke so it is race legal and less agressive cam and beefed up clutch, just like they did with the xr400 motor.

Read any of the reviews on it and they say it was detuned some to smooth out the power. Where the yzf is not. Its hardhitting right off the bottom and pulls all the way to its rev limit. they say the crf450 is where the yzf400 was when it camout. The yzf426 puts out more hp then the crf450. The yzf is faster in a drag race then the crf450. The only reasone the crf450 won any shootout was becouse it was new and weights 20lbs less then the yzf426. Honda is really starting to go down hill. the last formula 1 race i saw it said honda spent 200,000,000 dollars in r&d . It was the most money ever spent by one team in history. The funny thing is 4 race in and honda has yet to get a point. Thats right not one single point. Makes you wonder what kind of people work at honda.

Alaska,

Not exactly.

I was referring to the topic I posted the other day a few hours after I spoke with our Yamaha Rep......He said that both the Kodiak and Wolverine would be discontinued AS WE KNOW THEM. He doesn't know if two new machines are taking their place OR if the rumored 500CC 4X4 is replacing them both.

I guess with my satement "rep being screwed" could also mean that my "REP is being screwed"...LOL

They aren't going to do **** to the 250EX. Because it's doing fine how it is now. If you want faster get a pipe and silencer. maybe larger tires. i coulda swore I heard about the 250EX being bored over to a 310. Dunlap or somebody had a kit for it.

In the Colorado/Utah area, you can't hardly find a 250ex, they are sold out. Sat on a Suzuki 400 today, that should get Honda's attention. It seems like a bunch more quad for the $. When Honda stops selling 400exs, they will have to wake up and smell the Krispy Kremes. That Suzi looked mighty nice...
