I was looking for the air/fuel mixture screw and I found it, but was wondering what made Honda put the screw on the bottom where the only way you can adjust it would be to take off the carb, has anyone found any better ways to adjust it? I would rather do something else then take it off.

Is there room to use a 90 degree offset screwdriver?
Sometimes you can also loosen the boots, and rotate the carb enough to get at some adjustment screws.

I think you may be talking about a main mixture adjustment... It's not there, you have to change/modify a part (called a jet) inside the carb to affect the full throttle mixture. partial throttle mixtures may be tweeked with a needle that rides with the carbs slide( it has a c clip with multiple notches available for use. ) The screw adjustment on the bottom of the carb that is available(and probably what you found) modifies an air bleed circut in the carb affecting idle only. Opening it some may be benificial for idle in cold weather.

Pilot screw adjustments dont have to be so hard anymore. Get a Motion Pro pilot adj. tool. They are $25 but well worth it if you want to keep in tune. I think I could have easily gotten my money back by renting it to my buddies!!! Its a 90 deg. screwdriver that turns inside a tube. so when you hold it up to that pilot screw you can turn the screwdriver handle just like it was on the side of the carb. You can turn it all the way in and back out just by twisting the handle. This is as easy as it can get. It will work on most carbs that have the screw on the bottom, and you can see it from the side of the bike. I've used it on 400's and polaris. Hopefully I've explained this well enough. Chaparral motorsports have them. #315-8119 for $25 White bros. also. Worth every penny!!!
Good Luck!!
