I just cleaned the carb on my 84 200X and now it wont start unless I put some gas in the cylinder, and even then it only runs fo maybe 5 seconds. How many turns out should the screw on the bottom front be, I had it written down but I lost the paper. And, how far in should my idle adjustment be??? It acts like its not getting any gas after the gas in the cylinder burns off. Please help, I want to go ride this weekend.....

I can't remember the setting either, but most of those old 200's were about 1 1/2 turns out on the pilot screw.

There is no setting for the idle screw. Their is a recommended idle speed and you adjust that screw to maintain the speed.

Have you taken the fuel line off of the carb to make sure you have gas going into the carb??

You may have stopped flow into the pilot jet tract.

Is the float stuck in the closed position??

Is the float bowl vent line stopped up?? If it is, no gas will flow itno the carburetor even if it comes from the line when disconnected from the carburetor.

I'm not saying you are dumb here, but check to make sure you didn't leave the fuel petcock in the "off" position when you removed the carburetor. It happens for often than you think.

Another thing that happens regarding "forgetfulness" is that the float on these carburetors CAN be installed up side down!! When the float bowl is tightened up [3 screws], it pushes the float valve into the closed position and will not move at all and not allow gas into the carburetor.
