Have you tried using penatrating oil? that would clear up the rust and lube it up and make it easier to turn.

Yes, I've tried penetrating oil.

I'm just trying to decide to keep beating on it, or cut it out. I checked the price of that bolt, wow, damn near $60!

Once I do get it out, it will be on my maintenence chart to take out the pivot bolt every 6 months..

Load that thing up and take it to your nearest truck stop. Have them put one of their biggest air guns on the head of the bolt and do this as if you were loosening the bolt. [turn to the left]. It worked for me on two different occasions. I don't know what pressures those guns use, or how much those things weigh, but it usually takes two men to really get a grasp on them..LOL

Just a thought..worked for me twice.

Just keep using the penetrating oil, heat and a large hammer. Sooner or later something has to give! After a lot of swearing and some bloody knuckles, I got out the BIG sledge hammer and beat the bolt out.

When you get itout use Heim bushings rather than bearings, they can't rust. I have a spare pivot bolt and nut if you are interested.

get a piece of pipe that is just larger than the bolt head, prop the quad on it's side with the pipe over the bolt and the other end on concrete, you will transfer much more force to the bolt this way and not bend the frame, Hammer away.......

Knowsalot, I don't think doing that will help me, the bolts stuck in there pretty good. Thanks for the tip though.

retro, what are heim bushings? I seen the brass swingarm bushings made by RAD mfg.

powerslider, I screwed up my nut, and the threads of the bolt... But if I can get the bolt out in one piece, I should be able to fix the threads on the bolt with a 14mm die.

hold a piece of plate steel over the bolt so your not hammering on the bolt itself, that may help save it. I had quite a time getting mine out also but it finally came loose without ruining the bolt. Just keep at it and it will eventually break loose.

Quick Silver500,
I meant HELM bushings. They are made of a special plastic and will not rust. Cross Country racers use them, they are supposed to last 3 times longer than bearings.

i'll let you know from my experience. if you try to turn the bolt with socket or wrench it will twist the bolt and it will likely break when jumping. air hammer penetrating oil and more air hammer.

Looks like I'll have to cut it out. I noticed the dust seals and dust seal caps were missing on the left side. I also noticed that the chain slider wore through and the chain was just starting to rub the swingarm. I'm lucky I caught it.

I pulled the engine out yesterday, and now I'm looking how to cut the bolt. I might be able to get in there with a grinder with a 3/64" zip disc, but I might have to cut through the collars.
