Are you buying new or used? I think a new 400EX now is $5699 and a Warrior is around $4799. I have a 400EX and LOVE it. It is faster, has much better suspension and handling than the Warrior. I definately think its worth the extra money. If you dont want to spend more than the price of the warrior, you can find a used EX in good great condition for $4500. Good luck!

Around here, 400's are going for the price of a Warrior. Don't even consider the Warrior at ANY PRICE!! I owned one for years. It doesn't even get close to the 400, and you can live without reverse.

I would buy a Blaster before I'd buy a Warrior. Both of those are outdated though. Get the Honda or a new Z.

Since no one keeps their bike stock either one is fine. You can buy anything you need to make either one great. I bought a 02 Warrior and really like it. I know the EX is better in most areas but for the price and what I do with mine it is better for me. I guess unlike alot of people speed is not everything to me. Where I ride we only have one place to really open it up. The Warrior has enough power to climb all the hills I want to go up and the ones it don't I have no business going up.

I would try each and see which one fits you better and suits your needs the best. Both are proven machines. The Warrior has stood the test of time and is still one of the best selling ATV's out their no matter what the age of the machine. The EX is great and needs no introduction.

Why is this question even being asked? The 400 will smoke the warrior in all areas and has greater potential. The price diference is not big because with the extra money left over from buying a warrior you couldnt make it go as fast as a stock 400. I have never heard of a warrior doing anything besides break.

Just because the 400 would smoke a Warrior doesn't mean it is the better bike for him.

If reverse is a strong buying factor, just remember, the EX doesn't have it.

I have found the ergonomics of the EX to be perfect for me, but maybe the Warrior would fit him better, who knows.

I would definatelt sit on and ride both if at all possible, and take it from there.

I know many people that have, or have had Warriors and swear by them. I have never heard that they are a trouble prone machine.

But to answer your question, is the extra money worth it? If the EX was 3 grand more, it would be worth every penny.

prang11 since when does the Warrior breakdown all the time. Seems to me your facts are just not true. It is one of the best Yamaha motors ever and just plain when of the best lasting motors on the market from any company.

It is always funny how people have one machine like say a EX and then bash the Warrior. Does faster and more performance mean better. I guess everyone buys these things to race. It is more about can you have fun and is each machine reliable. The answer is yes. The EX does have more potential as far as racing but does that mean other brands suck. Not!!!

Nothing like a good, knowledgeable, scientific judgement backed by solid data and proof...

Prang11, on the contrary, it is very rare to hear of people having problems with a Warrior; they are virtually bulletproof.

Bullet Proof Quads????

I have shot my quads hundreds of times and something always breaks.lol

Either quad you will have fun on. The question is which one, right?

So if you want something that can be upgraded on the cheap the 400EX.

If you can't pull about 50Lbs rolling weight get the warrior.
