prang...you have no idea what you are talking about...it is easy to make a warrior go as fast as a stock 400ex.
it will smoke a warrior in most areas....excelt reverse....but that means nothing...

all he may want is something that will give him a little fun on some local trails. the warrior will do that just fine.

I'm looking to buy a 400 ex in a few weeks and i'm buying it to replace my 89 Warrior. The Warrior is a great quad and as long as you maintain your machines they will last a long time. I don't know where all you people get that they break down. Maybe you should look at the people who own the Warriors that are breaking down. Just my .02. Like a couple of people have said just get the one that suits you better.

The Warrior is a very reliable quad. Every Yamaha technician I've met has told me that that 350 motor is like a 350 Chev. It lasts forever and it don't break down.

I see that there are some hardcore yamaha fans on this board. Sorry for bringing my personal experiences into this topic. I have yet to see a warrior go fast and i have riden with two guys now with them and they both had problems. Sure they may be bulletproof but i have seen them fail. Maybe it was a very rare thing but i saw two warriors go down in a year. Sorry once again for telling you of my opinions and my expirience i will try to limit them from now on. I will never ride a yamaha there for i have no need to defend one. Dont cry to hard guys.

Prang11, no need to apologize for expressing your opinions; that's what these forums are for. Besides, the more you say the more others are able to quantify the value of your opinions; know what I mean?

Anyway, Personally, I have owned and ridden just about every conceivable make of street bike, dirt bike and quad made in my 36 years and can honestly say I have never seen any particular brand that was a real standout. I would never be foolish enough to proclaim that "I will never RIDE at Yamaha" or any other brand for that matter; How could I possibly have an opinion on something I have never rode??? Know what I mean.

Later.......

I owned a blaster and was not pleased. Before that i owned 2 hondas with no problems. Over my 12 years of riding i have had few problems with my hondas that i have not envocked. Life goes on. I will take back my statement that i will never ride a yamaha and restate that i will never own a yamaha again. Just personal preference and because my favorite color is red.
