Careful on the 250EX
#1
I did a wreck estimate Tuesday on a 250EX that a customer "bumped" a tree with. Ripped both A-arms off the side of the frame, along with ripping the a-arm mounts off the frame.
Those 250EX A-arms tubing walls are thinner than most paper I've seen.
The bill came to nearly $2,500.00 without labor.
Customer was not harmed at all, but he did really only "bump" the tree. Wasn't a hard impact, as the fenders would would have shown it.
Just thought I would let you trailblazer 250EX guys know about it so you'll think twice about that blind corner next time.

My thoughts exactly. It is just impossible to explain how thin the walls of these A-arms are. I saw a Recon a few years back that was struck by a truck and it had these weak a-arms. i would have thought that Honda would have beefed them up for the EX, but look to be the same. Only painted silver.
I haven't had anyone ask for different A-arms for the 250EX, so I'm not sure about any aftermarket ones being available.

KNOWSALOT,
Thanks for the heads up! I just bought a 2003 250 EX for my kids yesterday. Gee, I guess I can join the Honda forum now!

Just remember, if you put strong a arms on, the next weakest thing will fold in an accident, I.E the frame. Take a look at open wheel racers (F1, CART, etc), all the fringe items on the cars break/collapse in an accident, dissipating energy, and hopefully saving the really expensive part, the carbon fiber monocoque.
Don't misinterpret what I am saying. There is no excuse for cheap/flimsy parts on a quad. I am just pointing out why you should not overdo it with beefy suspension parts.
