i want to get a 2-stoke quad. But what ones is better the banshee or the 250R. How much HP do each of them have? Will a 250R beat a Banshee? HELP ME OUT!!!!!

 

What do you mean beat a Banshee?? In a strait drag race. No. On a trail with twisty curves. Yes. On a MX track. Yes. The Banshee is great for drags but not much else. The R has great handling so it is up to the rider what he prefers. I'm not sure about HP though.

 

Stock hp Banshee is about 48, stock R about 36-38. Flywheel power.
Also, the Banshee in the dunes is really hard to beat, although I can chase them with my R all day long, I can't beat them on large dunes at all.
Only thing with the Banshee, whatever mod you buy for the engine, you gotta buy 2 of them. Rebuilds cost more.
More Banshees available in good condition for a good price.
If I couldn't have my Rs, I'd have a Banshee.

 

If you put that 330 kit in it will it keep up to a banshee?

 

The 330 kit has enough power to outrun a piped and jetted banshee. A ported banshee is tuff, then it boils down to the driver. I have a highly modded 330R running alky and it will outrun most banshee's , but occasinally, you will run into a 'sleeper' banshee that will smoke you. Its so much fun at the dunes lineing up with a bunch of banshee's and blowing by them. O the looks you get......[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]
I've spent close to 3 grand on the engine and ignition and carb and pipe, but it cost money to go fast. My R is making just over 60hp

FTZ 39mm alky carb,CT whale pipe,CT 330pro cross cylinded with flat top piston porting redone for all out drag-racing,89 long rod crank,FTZ constant loss ignition (MSD digital),Rudy Kurtz override 1-4 transmission,barnett clutch with 80lbs springs,hinson clutch basket,89 update on the clutch system(roller bearing),14-36 gearing,+ 6 swing-arm,totally stock 86 frame and chassis shocks and all,12 paddle ultra lites paddles,alcohol mix 20 to 1 with maxima 927, I think that is all.I also have the FTZ drag pipe...but on the dyno it made 5 less hp than CT whale pipe. Try telling that to FTZ hahaha.

 

Sounds like a hella nice quad. Buy an R over a banshee. Unless you want to go in a straight line and thats it. My 400 can keep up with a piped and jetted banshee but if it is ported i am left behind. Rs may be harder to find but they are so nice. I wish i would have bought one over my 400 but the only Rs available sucked azz and 4-strokes are better.. You spent $3000 on your R and still cant beat a ported banshee. Thats freakin pathetic. Plus your running alcohol? I have just over $1000 in my motor and run pump gas. Get real, even before I ported my banshee I could smoke 330R's. And as far as a track, that also depends on rider, not always machine. I was racing around with a 250 just recently and did just fine thank you, (won some, lost some)

And whoever said a 400 ex can beat a piped banshee is plain, flat out, LYING. I dont now how much more power a 416 can put out over a 440, but I have smoked more 440's than I care to remember and that was before I got ported, now, its not even close.

In the end, it does depend on where you ride. If it is alot of tight trails and mx, you might want to get an R, but if its more than that, say dunes and fast trails/fire roads get a banshee. There is nothing like power sliding through a huge turn at 75 mph.


I see you already have a 400ex, that is a great trail/track machine! So you might as well get a banshee and have the best of both worlds!
