Question for KNOWSALOT
#1
Hello....some questions....i hear so much about the k&n filter... can you give me some indication of what it does, how much better performance it provides, can it damage the engine in any way without modifications, and will the filter alone provide increased horsepower...oh yeah, approximate cost (2002 Rancher)..thanks in advance...i've read many of your posts and find them great...i've learned alot from your posts and now i just might start picking your brain!!...thanks again.

Thanks.
The K&N will help your quad make more power, but don't expect any noticable gains unless you add an exhaust as well. I couldn't recommend any exhaust in particualr. When modifying a machine, it's best to actually get tips from those who own the same machine that you plan to modify. That's the only way you will know in what works and what doesn't.
I haven't owned a Rancher and don't recall doing any mods to one at the shop either.
I have always preferred the dual stage foam filters provided by Twin Air and White Brothers myself. They flow well and are easier to clean than the cotton gauze filters.[K&N]
Back to the same thing. For information on what works best on the Rancher model in particualr, try posting a topic regarding mods.
