I'm gettin new rims and probably new tires for my 400EX.

What tire diameter to rim diameter do u suggest?? how wide do u suggest?? also......the tire width can be greater than the rim width....whats the maximum increase one can have and what are the advantages to having a tire thats wider than its rim?? thanks alot!!!......ride on.....

 

Your rear tires are almost always gonna be wider than the rim. hence 20X11X9. Thats what I switched to. 11 inch wide for a nine inch rim. 400ex's come stock with 20 inch tall tires right?? I'd stick with those. go any lower and you sacrifice ground clearance. If you are wanting to gear lower change your sprockets. I couldnt since I am shaft drive. So I got 20 inch rears and 21 inch fronts. usually you get a inch taller tire in the front when you order a set. Normally the fronts are 21X7X10
