What is actually considered the T mark on the crankshaft?

I noticed that on the crank there are more than one mark. 2, | about and inch or so apart. 1, || and then 1 with ||- (I think this is called the “F Mark”).

Which one would I go by when setting the timing on a 2001 400ex with the 440 big bore kit and WB racing cam?

I was thinking the first | mark.

Reading this article (http://www.exriders.com/tech/valves.shtml) on Exriders.com, they show the || for the T???

The 'T' is top dead center (TDC),that is what you want to use, when you get it lined up, all the valves should have no tension on them (unless they are WAY out of adjustment) you can verify the position by taking the cam chain cover off, when the T is lined up,the mark on the cam sprocket should be lined up with the mark on the case on the head. I hope this is the info you were looking for.
