I'm going to put aluminum rims on my Recon soon and the red plug that sticks out from the drum will have to go. Do I need to silicone up the brake adjust hole or will the solid flat part of the aluminum rim covering it up be enough protection? I know the drums are sorta sealed and I don't want to mess that up. I don't do much mud or water riding but you never know what you'll run into on the trails.Thanks.

Just cut off the OUTSIDE part of the plug. The part that fits in the hole, just leave it there to protect your drums from water. It will clear the rims just fine.
