Honda 300 4x4 vs Yam Big Bear 400
#1
hi, i have a new Honda 300 4X4. I am very pleased with it except for the tires and ground clearance. The stock tires arent very good. I am happy with the power and everything but i get hung up on ruts alot and i saw that the BB 400 has almost 3 more inches of clearance, plus the more CC's. I am 6 ft tall and around 230 pounds. I am afraid if i add a lift kit and big wheels i will loose too much power for me to go through mud. I can sell my 300 and get a new BB 400 for about the price i would put into a big wheel kit. I guess i am just asking if i would be better off doing that? Is the BB 400 better than the 300 4x4. will i be able to tell a big difference in power? I know the Honda is comfortable to ride on also, is the BB? I am just trying toi get an idea of what to do, we do alot of mud running here where i live and i hate geting stuck alot, but all bikes do, like the honda 450es. So is worth the change or just stick with what i got?
thnx

The Big Bear is has quite a bit more power, a lighter and more nimble front end, far better ground clearance, shorter turn radius, more suspension travel and better cooling with the elect fan/oil cooler.
The 300 is an excellent, proven machine. Until the Big Bear is well broken in, it will not shift nearly as well and it doesn't have very good front wheel bearing seals (not worth a damn, really). If you ride in seriously deep water alot, you can plan on replacing wheel bearings annually. FWIW, I've had my Big Bear for over a year and the front wheel bearings are fine. I don't regularly ride in deep mud over the footpegs. Other than that, the choice is almost a no brainer. Go with the Big Bear.
