DynoJet product - anyone?
#1
Has anyone bought the DynoJet kit for the 400EX - anyone want to share the info?
I was wondering about adjustments to air/fuel mixture and needle adjustments that they have.
According to them, they give you this info if you buy the kit - Ive changed my jets already - but I havent moved the air/fuel adj - or needle yet - i think it still needs something.
Runs great - but i can feel it in 5th - feels like it just doesnt have enough pep in the high gears - almost like its running at low RPM's - seems i have to shift to 4th to get some power out... usually thats already over 50-60mph??
anyway - if you guys have bought this DynoJet product - let me know - is it a big deal ????

I havent got a 400ex but i did install the dynojet kit on my Bigbear and i have had terrible luck with it!! I cant get the fuel mixture right and ive tried all diffrent levels but it keeps fouling plugs and runs way to rich. They give you 3 diffrent main jets for different elevations and the float needle thats just a tad bit bigger. It might work good for you though.

I installed one on my Wolverine with no problems but i did have to add a extra air snorkle to get the performance I was looking for.

I purchased the K+N power kit that came with a airfilter and dynojet kit. I had installed a biggun exhaust on my 400ex before the rejet. The combination of the jet kit and air filter gave just a bit more power, but a much smoother feel to it. Overall I would say it was worth it. I also had mine profesionally installed. Jetting can be quite tricky and I wanted it to be as perfect as possible. Im quite happy and would say it was worth the cash.

RVonSand- I installed the kit on my 1999 400ex and it was easy. The instructions cover everything clearly. I also added the K&N filter and FMF Powercore IV. I think it made a great difference. It is much louder however, and I unlike others don't think louder is better. I'm more concerned with performance. IF you have any other questions, feel free to e-mail me.
By the way, mine seemed to be perfectly set after I followed the directions. Depending on where you ride (above sea-level), the directions tell you which main jet to use. This kit also had a new needle. My 400 pulls strong all thru 5th until the rev limiter kicks in....

Drilled pilot from stock 38 to 42.
Installed Dyno needle on third notch.
Installed main jet 170.
With LRD header and pipe.
Holes in the air box.
LOUD!
This carb's topped out.
