Oil in air filter box?

Anyone know why there would be motor oil present in the air filter housing on my Rancher? After the first ride, I noticed about 1" of oil in the 2" clear tube at the bottom of the filter box. I didn't give it much thought, but after a fishing trip this week end I noticed the clear tube was full, and the air box had 1/4" of oil in the bottom of it. I did change the oil at about 16 hours, it now has 25 hours. Also, I did not over fill the crank case, I used 2 qts Honda oil with a Honda filter. It runs great, just wondering whats going on.

Although I'm not sure about the rancher, the foreman vents its crankcase into the air box. I know you said you didn't overfill the crankcase, but you have very certain that the machine is on perfectly level ground when checking the oil. When it is overfilled(even a small amount) the crankcase pressure will force the excess oil out and into the box. If this is not the case, could the machine have been turned on its side or at an angle that would let some fluid run out of the vent? If niether is the case you might want to get it checked out. Hope I helped.

I have oil in the air filter box on my Rancher
also. It is comeing from the vent tube from the engine. I have about 20 hrs on it ,has had 2nd oil change. Dealer had oil 1/4 inch over full mark on stick on delivery and I keep oil at top of full mark. Maybe a little too much oil and will have to run lower oil level.
