I have a 01 400ex with about every bolt on there is. I just recently put on Elka shocks which are amazing. However I do need more power. Some of these races with long straights,,the dales are eating me alive. Tight courses I can hold my own. My motor has never been touched(bore, cam, piston) are stock. Anyone have a set up???
I would prefer to stay(more or less) with the stock bore,,just hone it and go with a high compression piston to retain the reliability.
What about cams,or carbs????

Any ideas????
Thanks

If your talking mx, I'd say put a Crf450 motor in it. That'll give the C-dales something to think about. If not, give Tc racing a call, I'm sure they could hook you up in some way. Bottom line is your going to have to get a bigger displacement to hang in there on the straightaways.

You could bore just slightly larger to get a 416cc or just go all out with a 440 kit.

How reliable do you think the 416 or the 440 would be??
I run hare scrambles from 1-2 hours hard on the throttle.

Thanks for your help!!

If you do the 440 kit, make sure you change out that rod.
Under those circumstances, it wont last long being pounded by a 440 high compression piston.
It will be reliable if done right.
