Did anyone catch the text under the pictures of the Yamaha flipping over in Dirt Wheels March Magazine. It said he hit the rear brake to hard going down a hill and that is what caused him to flip over. To me, it sure looks like he turned his wheels full right and that is what flipped him. What does everyone else think?

I would agree, to me hitting the rear brake wouldnt make you flip over forward but if he hit the fronts while turning the front tires I can see that. Made for good pics though since he was unhurt.

Physics guys, it is impossible for the back tires to cause the front end to flip over. How stupid do they think we are? Or are they just trying to sell brake kits to the uneducated to boost their advertising dollars?

I can see where the back brake could affect the front on a 4x4. They are connected via drive shaft. So applying the rear brake could lock the front, but that is not what is in the picture...

Dont forget that the Grizzly has a selectable 2x4 4x4 option so the rear disk could have been used without having the 4 wheel brake effect that a full time 4x4 quad would. You may be right they may be trying to sell that rear brake kit.

I agree that the flip could have been caused partially by hitting the rear brake. If I remember right, Dirt Wheels usually run the tests on the 4x4s with them in 4WD most of the time so hitting the rear brake would effect the front wheels. Or it could have been a typo; they might have meant to say front brakes. By the way, why is this post in the Honda forum?

It looks to me as if he crested the top of the hill at high speed and hit the rear brake on take off (ie jumping) thus causing the nose dive on the front. Seeing as to how those DW guys like to Jump those big 4bys anyhow.

Wasn't that the April Fools issue? Could it be that the way he flipped was a joke to see if we would catch it? I don't think that you could flip it with the rear brakes, but I don't know anything about the 4wd quads either.
