I am rebuilding my first atv. You will never learn until you try right? Well, I just want to make sure of something before I take it apart. I have the head and all that off. The only thing left is the cylinder and the piston. Do I just unbolt the cylinder from the base and pull it off the piston, or is there a better way? Also is ther anything to do or look for when outting the new piston in? Also where are the timimg marks on the cam and crank gears? I looked but couldnt see any.Thanks.

I'm not dissing you or anything, but an ATV is a pretty tight tollerance engine. I think your next step should be going to your local dealer and getting a shop maunal or visit Clymer.com

Timewass is right the best investment you can make is a Shop Manual for your Quad. It will answer a lot of questions and save a lot of time...

And yes you pull the cylinder off the piston. Be carfull to hold the rod as it comes off so you don't damage it.

Always put a rag around the rod in case you drop a circlip or something else. Won't go down to never never land....
