Has any body asked a honda dealer or got a reverse system on there 400ex because i don't want
a 300ex. I want a more powerful atv that a 300ex and has a reverse but i can't get to my honda dealer around her because i can't find the time to go there and when I do have time there closed.

Reverse on a 400ex would take some major transmission mods. If your gonna spend that much $$$ on reverse, you might as well get a 300ex, get some shocks, and bore it, and then you have a 400ex with reverse.

Go for the 300EX because sometimes less is more!

I was about to post on nearly the exact same topic!! I was pretty set on the 400EX, but I can't decide for sure between it and the 300EX. Here's my dilemma:

I own a Fourtrax 300 4x4, I love it, but it no longer fits my riding style, thus I need a sport quad, and it's gotta be Honda! I want something that will be noticeably faster and more powerful than my 300 4x4.

I've ridden a '94 Warrior, and I wasn't impressed at all. It was more powerful/faster than my 300 4x4, but still not powerful/fast enough. I've heard the 300EX and Warrior have roughly the same power, so figured the 300EX isn't what I'm looking for, which leaves me with the 400EX (which I've heard has plenty of power)... but I'd really like to have reverse for when I go trail riding. Please help me, I'm so torn!!

I sold a 300ex for a 400ex. I have been pleased even without reverse. I trail ride and with the 300 it was a pain to get it in reverse for the short time needed. I often got off and threw it around. The 400ex is easier to turn around this way. It may suck if you sink it in the mud though. The best honda that is not a 4x4 is a old 200sx. I have one of these and it will take you anywhere. It floats well to.Push down, pullin, shift down and your in reverse, shift up and your out. Awesome with lots of low end power.

Reverse on a 400EX? Sure, just turn the bars, punch the throttle and voila, your headed in the other direction!!!
