how are these tanks? my dad was thinking of selling his 250 to get more power

how do these compare torque wise and topend wise

what is the top speed for one of these beasts

are there any problems with these atvs/ things to watch out for?

Don't buy one unless it has been extremly well taken care of or if it hasn't been ridden in years.

The problems with these quads are only in the front end. It uses a front end unlike any other 4x4 ATV made.

It uses a front end sililar to the old straight axle front ends on your old 4x4 trucks. That along with a swingarm like is used on the rear end. It holds up well to normal use, but doesn't take abuse well and has the most expensive front end replacement parts than any other 4x4 out there.

Only by recalling what I can remember, top speed was right at 50mph.

The engine itself is based off of the ATC350X. It's topend is identical with the exception of the piston and camshaft.

 

I almost got one of these myself. After doing a little research, I decided against it, mostly for the reasons KNOWSALOT mentioned.

For instance, the example I was considering needed new fenders. What I discovered was that the replacements were only available through Honda. I even checked with Maier Plastic, but inspite of their extensive line of replacement fenders, this particular model was nearly the only one absent.

These quads were very good in their day, and very innovative as well. Today, well maintained examples are still great workhorses, but they lack many things that modern 4x4 quads have. Widely available and affordable replacement parts included.
