I have heard rumors about a kickstart add on for the 300ex. I was wondering if it is true and where it can be bought? If anyone can help please let me know. Thanks.

 

It is basicly the same quad as a 250X, except that the 300EX has a longer stroke and it has electric start. So in theory you could take the right side case off a 250X and all the gears inside of it and put it on your 300EX. Hope that I helped you.

Several years ago I saw an article on adding a kick-starter to a 300EX. The 300 uses a different side cover than the 250, but the guy how did it machined the newer side cover to open the holes (you can see the dimples on it) and added the internal pieces that were required to make the whole thing work. If I remember right, the cost was not worth the benefits, so it probably wasn't persued much past the experimental stage.

 

I have a picture of a 97 300ex with one on it im gonna have to try to hook one up on mine.

 

It even has the cutout in the plastic for the kickstart to fit!
