Rode the Rincon 650 today..SWEEEEEET!!

We got our first Rincon 650 today. A green one.
The shop went overboard getting this one ready to ride....LOL
All I can say is..SMOOOOTH. I have never ridden a quad that rides as nice as this one. Honda really did it's hoework on the suspension.
The power delivery is smooth also. You hardly feel it shifting gears when upshifting, but you notice the downshifting more. It has engine braking similar to an auto clutch ATV. I liked it.
The engine had alot more bottom end than what I expected. I was looking forward to ride a bit stronger than the Rubicon, but there is no comparison with the Rubicon. If you stab the throttle from a dead start on concrete, it will either smoke the tires or ride a wheelie, depending how you have your weight balanced.
Now for the test.
Raced it against a Prairie 650 out back in a distance just short of 100 yards. There was no winner. Equal weight riders on each and the same resulkts when we traded quads. They are dead even. We did this with just throttle alone the first few times. Then we tried doing it with a little bit of braking on the start to build the RPMs on each quad....the Rincon sneaked by every time doing it this way, but not more than about one quad length.
Overall, I like the Rincon alot more than I thought I would.
There are two things that I didn't like.
First, the Rincon does not come with a trailer hitch as standard equipment. Honda's goal was to keep the weight under 600lbs, and the hitch put it over that limit by ONE freaking pound!! The hitch is available from the dealer for an additional $40.00.....we received these also.
Secondly, the Rincon has only what i can call "an interesting front plastic design". It looks great from the side view, but seeing it up front and in person makes me wonder who they hired to help design this thing.....LOL
Honda has got a winner here.

Now I can't say as far as pulling goes.
I just know that one has no advantage over the other in a short drag race on flat ground. Both were in 2WD.
Didn't try it in 4WD.....I don't know if this would have changed the results any if at all.
I don't see the need for any more bottom end on a Prairie 650 or Rincon 650....of course, i am more of a sport quad rider than a utility quad rider, so that may just be an opinion of mine.
I do know that both are capable of riding wheelies with just a slight pull on the bars and a thumb full of throttle......more than what I would call "utility"...that's for sure.

the p650 i had out would wheelie really good on the pavement. does the rincon shift sluggishly, or positively? i think it will sell great, it may have a high retail pice tag, but the dealer around here just knocks more off the price and it works out to be the same price as any quad in its class. IRS is nice, but did you have it outta the parking lot? not being lippy, i'd love to just sit on one!!

I rode it in the paved parking lot and in the test ride area behind the dealership which covers close to 6 acres maybe.
I can't stress how good this thing rides. You will have to go to your dealer and check it out. He should be getting his anyday now, if he didn't get it today. Dealers are getting very few in the first shipments because supply is still limited and they want every dealer to get at least one unit out of this first allocation.
We were expecting 3 out of the first shipment, but only got 1!!

Rincon Brakes? I am deciding between a Rincon and a Prairie 650, the Rincon was at the top of my list until I read that it had "drum brakes" in the front. However, the August issue of 4 wheel Atv Action states that the Rincon has triple disc brakes. So what is the truth? I am anxious to buy a new machine and will wait for the Rincon if it has disc brakes. I have seen many other rediculous mistakes in this magazine so I don't hold their accuracy with much regard until I check things out myself. If they are drum brakes, why would honda do that on the planets most expensive atv? I love Honda products but I won't buy their "flagship" atv if it uses inexpensive and dated technology for the brakes.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I'm not sure that Honda's using inexpensive or dated technology, they just felt it was better to stick with the drums in the front. I do know that the triple disc was a misprint in ATV Action, I read it too. I think you would probably be happy with eighter one of those machines. There are a few things about the prairie that bother me, but over all I think it's a great ATV.
