my 400ex is makin a noise. it makes like a cracking sound. and when i shift up gears it does it and when i get up to speed does anyone know wut causes this [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

I honestly am not any mechanic and am not sure about what ur problem is but maybe its your about to cease your engine and your running with little or no oil. This is only a guess so dont take it to literally maybe you will have better luck with other people. Ask Knowsalot he would know

 

Exactly what part of the engine is the noise coming from??

Top end or bottom end?

Does the noise occur while revving the engine in neatral or just when you are riding and shifting gears??

Check the oil level like CrazySpeed said before doing anything.

 

have you changed the oil/filter lately? there might be a chance that you put the oil filter in backwards, this prevents oil from going to the top end, it's an easy mistake, especially if you buy an aftermarket filter.
