I am a die hard Honda rider with a 2 wheel and a 4 wheel drive under my barn. I have found what sounds like a great deal on a brand new Arctic Cat 400i. I can buy it for less that $4,500.00 including tax. I am thinking of purchasing it to have a 3rd ATV for our use. Is this a good price and what do the rest of you think about the Arctic Cat's reputation. I have not heard good things in the past. Let me know...

Hey actually Artic Cat is actually suzuki engines if im correct. Suzuki utility quads are very reliable from what I heard and are quite good. For that price i would definatley hop onto that deal for the 400i. Sounds like a great deal your pretty lucky.

Can I get any more response. I am not a big Arctic Cat fan but I also believe that if you provide the proper upkeep and maintenance most any ATV will last pretty well. I just don't know.

The Sukawacats are good quads, but I have heard my share of problems with the chassis componets used on them....mainly drive shafts and ring&pinion gear sets.

I don't deal with Artci Cat myself, but a good friend of mine is and he has nothing but good things to say about them except for the drivetrain problems.

Arctic Cat purchases engines from Suzuki for their own quads. Suzuki has no ties with them other than being their engine supplier. I guess you could say that Artcic cat is a Suzuki customer.....not a partner.

Overall..I say get the thing for that price. Especially if it appears to be well taken care of.

Good luck.

First off, is it a 2002 or a 2003? If you do it, you will love it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Arctic Cats. In fact, they probably have the best suspension around. They are built very tough and will last a long time. They are by no means speed demons, but they are very capable and will go anywhere all the others go. I had a 500 auto and loved it. Never had a problem at all, except a small issue with the brakes. I fixed it, end of story. If Arctic Cat would improve their gauge package and add just a little more top end they might be the best quad out there. I'm very serious when I say this, they are great quads they just don't have the name and recognition of the others. In fact, if you do buy one you will probably find yourself leaving the others in the garage. And by the way, the only reason I sold mine is because my wife was having a baby and my dealer was not the best. In fact, he sucked so much money out of the dealership he ended up closing down and the closest dealer was 100 miles away. I bought a rubicon and I love it, but before I did I rode a 2003 500i auto and I had many sleepless nights trying to decide. I bought what I bought because I like Hondas reputation and a local dealer, but if there was still a Cat dealer local I can't say I would have.
