go for the WB E series and a K&N jet kit, i got that installed on my y2k400ex and its got incredible throttle response, i mean instantanious right off the bottom! its a good deal to i picked all that up for about 300 bucks. very noticable power increase. good luck.

Anyone try the WB R series? I have a FMF PowerCore, and love it. It is quieter than my XR400 was with a ProCircuit pipe, but thats not saying much.

400EX,

It depends on noise limitations in your riding area. If sound checks are not an issue, there are several race pipes out there that will give you BIG gains in HP. I am currently in the market for a 400EX pipe also. I ride in the Oregon dunes and am limited to 3 pipes on the market that can make the 93dB limit. I am doing a pipe by pipe comparison of all pipes available taking power gain, maintenance, and noise into consideration. Should be done in 2 weeks.

I'll be buying a 400EX in the next month or two, and I was also interested in what pipe would be a good one. I'd like to not get too horribly loud, so if I had the choice between a noisy pipe or a noticeably quieter one that would free up less power, I'd be willing to give up a couple horsepower for a quieter pipe. Just as long as there's a noticeable power gain. Any suggestions? That new FMF pipe that was mentioned above sounds interesting, anyone have any info on it?

I talked with an FMF engineer on the new squared pipe. I got prelim HP data and noise figures. I am still compiling all the data from calling 20 companies (ARGH!). More to follow.. If you guys want the info, I will be happy to email it to you in a spreadsheet. It will contain noise, HP, power band, cost, design data from almost everyone out there making EX pipes.

I put on a e-series on my 400ex. I wish I would have looked at DMC better with its dual pipes design. The WB megaphone w/ headpipe would have been good too. I'm happy with only spending 200.00. Be sure to get the rev kit. It did help.
