Exactly! I was wondering was I the only one who knew anything about the hp ratings and drag strip #'s. My big 4900# tank 02 5.3L X cab Chevy ran 15.0@93 at the strip.

Hey your right. The Cummins isn't in the same ballpark as the Duramax or PSD but they will catch up someday. The Cummins is the most detuned of the bunch and from what I've seen is going to have the longest engine life. As for the gas powered Dodge trucks they are underpowered and even when fixed up a little a stock 5.3 Chevy will still be close to a second quicker. The Lightening is in it's own league. And both the Duramax and the Cummins will outrun their gas counterparts with very little in upgrades. I'll probably be purchasing a Duramax before to long just to see what I can get out of it powerwise. And I will still have my Cummins around to compare it to. As for the quality of American made products. I'm on my 3rd Suburban the other 2 both had over 230,000 miles when traded and were still running great. The foreign market doesn't make or sell any vehicle that I feel the need to own. And my Cummins Dodge was assembled in the USA not Mexico.

The new Hemi Magnum has 345 HP and 365 lb-ft of torque and the new Cummins turbo diesel has 305 HP and 555 lb-ft of torque better than the Duramax
and my father has a Dakota with a 5.2l magnum and i don't have any problems to race with silverado.
Dodge Rules
Let's not forget the new Ram SRT-10 to beat the little lightning, with the viper motor 8.3l V-10 500HP and 500 lb-ft of torque!!!!

first of all, if you take a look, i was talking about the gas engines. the cummins is a very reliable engine. however, most of the car mags, specifically motor trend, car and driver, and truck trend, have cited serious problems with the HO cummins. i believe that the damned thing petered out on them.
and if you take notice, no one has questioned the hemi engine.
the lightning and the srt-10 should not even be in this conversation. why? because we all need 4wd trucks with lots of seating so we can take our families, friends, and all the quads, bikes, etc. to the riding area.
