The rumors we have heard, are that Honda was all set to release a new CRF450 high-performance quad at this year's dealer show in Chicago, but it was nixed at the last minute when upper management felt that it would seriously cut into sales of existing warehouses full of 400EX's.

The key word there is rumors. Yamaha said flat out when the introduced the raptor that a YZ426 motor was to high stressed to live in a quad. Now if Yam know a high strung MX motor will not last then do you think Honda will put a CRF motor in a quad? I think every one here really know that will never happen. Yes we might see a different Honda some time but I think as long as the EX is out selling everything else we woun't. Remember Honda does not give a crap what you me or a mag thinks. all it cares about is money and lets face it every one of you would do the same thing, if you had the #1 selling sport quad going would you release a new quad to sell what a few more at less proffit. It is not going to happen for a while. Dirt Wheels wants you to buy next months issue and nothing more.

You guys are missing one small item. How much is this CRF450 going to cost? That motor isn't cheap and it's a little high strung for quads that weigh twice what bikes do.

You think the Cannondale are expensive, wait until Honda makes something to keep up.

Just my Thoughts.

To me it doesn't seem like Honda's style to overproduce & lock alot of money up in warehouses full of unsold 400EX's. That just doesn't make sense business wise. But who knows...

ya know what, i moved to the city and there is no one here who knows anything about atvs. so, it may be "stupid" to you, but this is the closest thing some of us can have to a real conversation about this stuff. so yes, i do enjoy seeing what other people think and have to say about it. even if it's spelled out in "20 different threads." it's called a "community." so like i said, if you don't like it, don't read it.

if im not mistaken, shouldnt this rumored new quad be displacing no more than 440cc's. dont get me wrong id love to see a 450 or 650 but with hondas reputation and commitment to racing, im sure theyd build a quad that they would be able to race with. and again if im not mistaken, isnt displacement limited to 440cc's in AMA sanctioned events. unless of ourse youre racing in teh open class

yes it is limited to 440... but i'd bet my money that they would change it to 450 if honda produced that quad. i read a few months back that honda protested the 440 limit and were told that they would consider a rule change if a change was warrented by what was being produced.
