If it is a minor bend and not in a very important part of the frame, it can be heated and straigtened out a bit.

Unless done by someone who knows what he is doing [me] it will be weaker in that area.

I'm just thankfull someone on this forum knows what they are doing.

How bad is the bend? IF you can still go down a straight line and it doesn't pull, don't worry about it. IMHO

Haha, the Capt doesn't have a clue! If you do straighten it, it will be weaker in that area. It all depends on where it's at. You can gusset the frame to make it stronger after you straighten it, if it's in the right location.

I had my TT banshee frame straightened. I have a friend with a body shop that has a straightener that he uses on cars. He tied the bike down and pulled some of the bend out. My frame is twisted, so he couldn't get it all. I had someone T-bone me from the left side. The right front tire was about 3 inches wider than the rear! Now its pretty closeto where it should be.

It's no big deal if done properly. It's not as easy as just heating it up and hammering it straight.

I would suggest you carry it to a reputable welder or machine shop who knows how to work with metal without making it weaker in the long run.

We have many frames straightened every year by a local machine shop and have never had any recurring problems from the repairs.
