So how hard is it to put a CAM in Foreman
#1
I have seen allot of adds in magazines for Cams that offer increased top end power with out loss of bottom end by increasing the duration without too increase in lift. I am contiplating this but wonder how much work would be involved.
My experience in ATV maintenance includes rebuilding top/bottom ends as well as replacing gears and bearings in transmissions of 2 stroke ATV's.
I would expect to have to buy a Honda service manual, but I don't want to hurt my reliable machine, in doing this upgrade.
If anyone has torn one of these transverse motors down I would appreciate any advice or warnings on this matter.
Thank You

You will have to remove the front crankcase cover. This will require a new gasket for the cover too. One thing to note is that the cam will either give low end and take top end OR give top end and take low end. A cam will essentially move the power peak of the engine to a different point in the rpm range. It will not spread that peak out very much to give you a gain in both departments.
