400ex a arms on a 300ex - who has done this?
#1
Hello,Honda mod-masters!!
I am getting the parts together to put 400ex a arms on my son's 300ex,I know most is a bolt up,but the top shock mount will need to be fabbed,or is there a kit out to adapt the top mount? I am also getting the brake lines and tie rods for the longer arms, are there any other things I need,or need to look out for?
Thanks for any info on this subject.

I did this with my 300ex. The A-arms bolt right up. 400ex shocks will not work though. Just trust me on that one. What you will have to do is eventually but some works shocks for +2 extended a-arms for the 300ex. That is what I did. If you do put the 400ex shocks on, then your front end will sit up REALLY high. The 300ex shocks do work but your quad will tilt forward a tiny bit but overall they work just about the same as they did with stock 300 a-arms. Another thing is, if you do eventually get the works shocks it will take some width away. So in the end of all this I only gained about +1 inch on each side.

The reason your front end sat up so high with the 400ex shocks, did you use the same top mount on the 300? From what I have heard, you must move the mount for the top higher to keep the frame geometry right, and you should be able to keep the 2" width the 400ex arms provide. I remember reading a post on this a long time ago,but can't remember whether the top mounts were fabbed,or if there is a kit available for the installation. All the info I read they used 400ex shocks with no problems.
