Which pipe for a 300EX
#1
Ok guys...help me out here. I'm looking to surprise my hubby with a pipe for his '93 300EX. Want performance...don't want excessively loud. I've been looking at a White Bros E-series, a Supertrapp Race series or a FMF Megamax II. But to be quite honest...I really don't know what the hell I'm doing. So, I am open to your suggestions. Also, where do you suggest I buy from (best price)? Thanks guys!

ATVgirl, I am origally from Madison, WI. Kick *** town.
Anyway, too your pipe question. I would recommend a pipe that has a "disk" system(WhiteBrothers, SuperTrapp). The disk system lets you select the number of disks to put in the pipe to control volume and power.(Few disks, low noise and power, Many disks, higher noise and power) This will allow you to pick what is right for you.
Also, aftermarket pipes have other positives like lighter weight and non-corrosive parts to resist rusting.
Hope this helps.

Been to The Parthenon lately?
I had a Megamax II on my 300ex. After about a year of riding, the damn thing started to come apart. The endcap is screwed to the main pipe body by 4 screws. The air pressure was pushing against the cap so hard, the screws were starting to pull out of the pipe! It would have to be welded together to fix it. I don't know much about the other pipes, but I would go with one of them.

OK guys here's another question. You've got me leaning towards a SuperTrapp. The price seems great, especailly since it includes a performance header (as opposed to using the stock headpipe). I'm assuming that this will make a difference (and the White Bros header is $117 in addition to the $259) So tell me the difference between the SuperTrapp Racing Series and the SuperTrapp E.A.R. Series. I understand that the E.A.R. series conforms to EPA sound levels, but I don't really think that's a concern here. Is it that much quieter than the racing series? Does it still offer the same performance? Is it worth the extra $20? Well again I await your replys. And thanks for helping me out...I promise to stop asking these "dumb female" questions soon!

ya go with the super trapp, its a good pipe, might want to slap on a K&N filter right away too. a good place to order it from would be right here on the net or check out Madison Motorsports. its a small little shop, they got lots of stuff there! and usually give you a little discount. it on stoughton road across from A-1 furnature, in between the Wendy's and Bob Barr Kawasaki. good luck.

RDex...yeah, I know all about Madison Motosports. Usually in there at least every other week. Talk alot with Judy. She's a great lady. And you're right about the discounts. They will try to match any price that you find elsewhere. They just ordered a Thor helmet for me and knocked $30 off of the price. The only thing that they told me they couldn't match is the $119 that I'm gonna spend for a Ceet graphics kit with seat cover for my machine. Thanks for the response!

Supertraps are obnoxious, my neighbor had one on a 300ex and almost got us banned from our riding areas. 4 strokes gain so little power from a pipe, (it's all imagination/ noise=power NOT), they're not worth the risk of losing your trails over. Stay with the great Honda stock pipe and keep riding when and where you want!!
