I got my ride back this sunday and it runs great, except at some point in the throttle and carb there needs to be an adjustment. about half way through the throttle there is a point when i can tell where(help me on this) the ??plunger??(the part in the carb that moves up and down to let in more air) you know what i am talking about, right?? I hope so, but i can tell when that starts to open up more and more, and well it doesnt open up soon enough cuz the power just isnt there like it used to be... I KNOW that it is something in the carb, and it just needs to be adjusted, can anyone please help me on this one????

The plunger is called the float and the float is connected to a thing called a needle and the needle fits in a thing called a seat when gas fills the float bowl up the float floats up (hence the name float) and and pushes the needle farther in the seat stop gas from coming in and draining the fuel completely out of the bowl the engine uses the fuelk and drain the bowl the float falls and opens the needle and seat and lets gas come back in. all U need to do is take off the your card take out float and needle and bend the tab that conects the needle to the float upwards a little bit and put it back togother(just bend the tab a little bit so that the needle doesn't stay open and floo your engine. remember ride red

could you possibly be referring to the slide? The slide is controlled by the throttle cable. If the cable is'nt adjusted properly it wont allow the slide to be raised fully, therby causing a power loss.Since the flat spot in the band that you refer to is at 1/2 throttle, that is just where the needle jet operates, and the jet needle is located within the slide, which you say is not fully raised.

The slide is what you are talking about, but here's how it goes. There are "usually" 3 feul circuits in a carb: Idle, intermediate, and main. There is a needle on the bottom of the slide that closes off the intermediate and main jets while idling. Once you just barely get into the throttle, the intermediate takes over until about half throttle when the main takes over. The switch between intermediate and main are done purely by pressures in the carb. These pressure changes are caused by 2 things: the amount of air coming into the carb, and vaccum which is creaed by the motor. What I am driving at is this. I the bike runs good at an idle, and runs good pinned, all parts are clean and crap free, you have an intermediate jet problem. What have you changed, if anything? Pipe, air box, filter? Any of these would cause jetting problems. Bottom line is, there is only one adjustment on the slide, that is the cable and or idle screw. Bothe do the same thing, get the needle out of the intermediate/main jet fuel tube. The only thing that changing this is going to accomplish is raise your idle. What indication is leading you to believe you have a problem? Is it running rich or lean at 1/2 throttle? That will tell you if you need to go up or down a size. Unfortunatly, carbs are not an exact science. You may have to try a couple different jets before you get the one you need.
