What does "ex" stand for? Does it stand for anything or just random letters? I am pretty sure that "r" is for 2 strokes because honda has the 250r and suzuki calls theirs a lt250r. Please correct me if i am wrong.

 

I'm 90% sure the "e" in "ex" designates electric start. "X" could stand for four stroke.

 

I am going to add 10% to Rockey and say he is correct.

My XR250R is a four stroke.

 

i was reading somewhere on the honda website said it was Earth Crossing i just dont know where i saw that

 

uhh no cook it means electric start 4 stroke.

 

In a dirtwheels issue I bought if stated that it mean earth crosser

i have heard that earth crossing thing before too but i don't believe that. it stands for electric start 4 stroke. r is for race x is for 4 stroke. the 250x was a kick, then when they changed it to the 300ex they added electric start.
