Default 250x fuel system

I'm trying to buy the neighbor's 91 250x. It hadn't been started in a year or so. I drained the tank and refilled, put in a new plug, aired up the tires and kicked on it for 2 hours. It will *almost* run if you pull it behind another quad and give it all the gas your thumb can give it. I never saw one but it occurred to me on the way to work that it just might have a stopped up gas filter. Does it have a gas filter that I missed? Anything else to check? It's got a nice hot blue spark at the plug.

The fuel filter is inside the tank.

Disconnect the fule line from the carburetor and then take the fuel tank off. The fitting on the bottom of the tank will have to be removed to get access to the filter. If this thing has been sitting up like you said, it is very likely that it is indeed stopped up and not allowing the fuel to get to the carburetor.

Checking this is easy. Just disconnect the fuel line from the carburetor and turn the gas valve to the 'On' or 'Reserve' posistion and see if fuel is coming out.

If you are getting the gas and you already have the spark......the problem is in the carburetor.
[This is only assuming that the quad ran when it was parked 2 years ago]

I would also guess that when he parked it he did not drain the gast from the carb.. So, it would be a good idea to that the carb off and clean it using some carb spray and also, clean out the fuel lines before you try to start it again. The junk that dried up in the lines will move to the carb and clog up the pilot and main jets when you do get it started. Best of luck.
